We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.
Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.
Some Sundays, I step away from my standard affirmation/reflection/application format and just go with whatever flow I’m feeling. We refer to said notes as Wilde Cards ;)
Card: Ten of Wands
When I think of the concept of packing light or lightening the load, I think about learning how to let go. When I think about letting go, I think about freedom.
We all have our loads and burdens to carry in life. Our loads vary in size but light or heavy we have them. Releasing the burdens of life requires letting go of things (people, places, situations, etc.) that mean us no good. Unfortunate events and circumstances may have happened in our past but we cannot allow them to consistently negatively impact our present and the future by holding on to them. All of our experiences shape who we are and packing light is about not letting any negative or heavy experience weigh us down. Trauma, heartbreak, depression, etc. are real experiences. As human beings when we experience such things, often and temporarily we are negatively impacted by them. However, at some point we have to make the choice to return to the light. We have to figure out how to lay our burdens down so that we can walk tall and boldly into all that lies ahead for us.
Most of us have someone who we can call on to help ease our burdens or to help us in a time of need. The problem is often that we do not know, are scared, or are too proud to let people know that we need help. It is important that we learn how to allow people to help us and to seek out help when we need it. When we can receive help and do not, we make our life’s journey much more difficult than it has to be. Though we live in a society that values independence, we were not created to move through life alone. Fully understanding that makes it somewhat easier to let others help us “lighten our load”. There are many things we will carry with us, but we do not have to carry them alone. Learning how to lighten our load is a key to drawing more peace and balance into our often chaotic and unbalanced lives.
How do you pack light or lighten your load?
-Heal the broken parts of you. Get help with the things you struggle with and for the areas that need developing.
-Find a source of support. From talking to wise friend to seeing a therapist.
-Find a source of faith. Strengthen or build a relationship with God, find a church home, listen to sermons/inspirational & motivational material, etc.
