We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.
Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.
Some Sundays, I will step away from my standard affirmation/reflection/application format and just go with whatever flow I’m feeling. We’ll refer to said notes as Wilde Cards ;)
Card: Seven of Pentacles
In her Tarot Fundamentals Course, one of the ways in which Jessica Dore interprets the Seven of Pentacles is as “the virtues of hard work”. Below you will find what I presently consider to be the seven virtues of hard work.
1. Balance
Obtaining and maintaining balance is the foundation. It’s possible to work too hard, and eventually be unable to enjoy what you work hard for. On the other hand, it’s also possible to rest too much, and either lose everything you worked hard for or never have attained shit. We have to work hard, and we have to equally enjoy life. Balance is even necessary as it pertains to the other virtues.
2. Discipline
There will be times when we don’t want to do the shit. But guess what? We are going to have to do it anyways. It doesn’t always matter if you want to do it or not. What matters is that you get it done.
Thats what discipline is all about.
3. Energy
All forms of our energy will be used - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and any other energy source you could think of. Using energy is draining. Make sure you adequately replenish.
4. Perseverance
Adversities are a given and when they come, we overcome them. Persevering is overcoming. Persevering is getting it wrong or something going wrong but having what it takes to try again until we get it right.
5. Sacrifice
Be it temporarily or permanently (we’ll do a little bit of both), there are ideas, people, things, etc. that we will have to give up when we’re working hard. Ultimately, we just always hope and pray that the sacrifices are worth it.
6. Self-Confidence
We have to believe we can do whatever it is that we are doing. We have to believe that we will have whatever it is we are working towards. We can do it and we can have it - we just have to believe that shit.
7. Time
We must be willing to dedicate our time. It’s that simple.
