We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.
Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t
Card:
The Emperor
Affirmation:
I possess and learn what it takes to be an effective, successful, and respected leader.
Reflection:
Though leading is often perceived as a “solo effort”, the insightful know it’s done best as a “team effort”, and there is no leading without a deep understanding of doing (action).
Leading and the importance of doing are symbolized in The Emperor. Leaders must have a clear vision (direction for the future) for themselves most importantly but also for the people, projects, or organizations that they oversee. In the same way, leaders know the importance and necessity of getting their stakeholders to believe in the vision. A good leader is an individual who has the best interest of those facilitating, supporting, and surrounding the execution of the vision that has been laid out. A good leader also recognizes the importance of possessing qualities such as being a good listener, being able to accept accountability, and knowing the intention behind their actions.
Leading is such a huge responsibility because it doesn’t just impact one person. Leading impacts many lives therefore making the leader someone who on some level has a responsibility to those they are leading. The most successful and respected leaders maintain both a willingness and eagerness to develop, grow, and learn. They understand that they will not have all of the answers all of the time, but they realize it is a responsibility of theirs to figure it out or come to a solution. This is why the support system of a leader is so essential. Leaders require wise counsel to advise them in their time of need or assist them when guidance is necessary in order to make the best decision at the time for all involved parties. Leaders know that although the spotlight is on them they don’t make shit happen alone.
At a more heightened level than others, leaders realize that there must be alignment in what we say and what we do. It is one thing to say we want a thing to happen in our lives and though closely related, it is a separate thing to do the things necessary in order to manifest it in our lives. In order to make things happen we have to do something and there is no escaping that fact. Simultaneously, we must remember that doing is not about constant or superficial busyness but intentional and productive action that gets us closer to a goal or outcome we desire. Ultimately, we all possess the inner strength required to actively work towards and do the things that need to be done in order to bring to fruition what we say we want.
Application:
Establish a clear vision and always remain focused on it. Also, be willing to change the vision if and when necessary.
Surround yourself with wise and supportive people who can help you make decisions in your time of need. You will depend and lean on them often.
Learn and master the difference between busyness and productive, necessary action. There is a difference and the sooner you learn it the more free you will feel.
