“i am nothing on my own but everything because of god.”

"Even in times of sadness, there is..."

We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.

Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t

Card:

Five of Cups

Affirmation:

Amid the pain, I see the joy.

Reflection:

The Five of Cups reminds us that even in times of sadness, there is something to be grateful for. There is no escaping the spectrum of emotions. So as much as we try or no matter how successful we are the majority of time, permanently staying on the bright side (i.e. feeling joy, happiness, euphoria, etc.) of the emotional spectrum is unrealistic. Naturally, something will take place or there will come a time when we experience the dark side (i.e. feeling sorrow, grief, disappointment) of the emotional spectrum. So often we are taught or just innately run from emotions that cause discomfort or pain. However, we are only able to live life to its fullest potential when we learn how to deal with and process the dark emotions that are inescapably a part of life.We all experience the spectrum of emotions to varying degrees. Some of us are extremely familiar with the bright side while others are more familiar with the dark side. The fact is we all share in experiencing them all. Whenever and however we find ourselves on the dark end we must master not getting stuck there and being able to move ourselves back towards the bright end (the real deal is that the center is the sweetest and ideal space on the spectrum, but that’s another note for another day).

It is extremely crucial that we understand the importance of healing our pain and dealing with feelings that trigger sadness in us. We must be willing to do the work that healing and restoration requires. One requirement is figuring out and gathering the various tools needed in order for us to overcome our sadness and still see the beauty of life. This requires a level of vulnerability on our part because we must be honest about the events that cause us pain in order to properly process the pain. If we are not willing to acknowledge the discomfort or sadness we experience, we cannot begin to get or use the tools we need to ease it. So we realize that a fact of life is that learning how to accept life in its totality (i.e. the joys and the pains) is where the true beauty and healing lies.

Application:

Practice seeing the good in everything. On a daily basis find or put a positive perspective on everything that is taking place in your life. Constantly ask yourself: What is the good in this? Find the answer. One is always there.
