We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.
Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.
Card:
The Star
Affirmation:
I am who I say am.
Reflection:
Before our faith is solidified we must have hope. Hope is like the soil that faith grows from.
The Star is symbolic of hope and faith. Hope speaks to our expectation and desire and faith speaks to our complete trust that what we expect and desire will manifest. Sometimes people can have a negative outlook on concepts such as hope and faith. People with this negative outlook often argue that such concepts are not rooted in reality but instead are rooted in utopian ideals. Hope and faith are not just these abstract philosophies intended to make people feel a false sense of peace; They are both practical philosophies and tools that can actually bring peace and everything we could need in order to keep moving forward in our lives. All of us (no matter who we are or where we come from) experience times that we need something to believe in or we need something to look forward to: Hope and faith provide the belief and optimism that is necessary for us to navigate the highs and lows of life.
The Star is also a reminder to constantly discover who we are and evolve. Self-discovery (like so many other aspects of life) is not a destination but a journey. We are always evolving which involves always staying in touch with what we believe and what we want. One thing we can all practice on our self-discovery journey is repeatedly getting clear about who we are. Figuring out who we are consists of learning how to be honest and learning how to own our power. We have to be honest with ourselves because growth is blocked by lies. We have to own our power by moving with assurance, worthiness, and gratefulness in our ability to tap into the God who lives in each of us.
Application:
Put in work towards what you are hopeful and faithful for. For me, faith is about doing what I can do towards what I believe in, and the knowing that a force much greater than myself will step in to do the rest and that part is not for me to worry about.
