Wilde Card: On Stillness and Remaining Calm

We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.

Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.

Some Sundays, I step away from my standard affirmation/reflection/application format and just go with whatever flow I’m feeling. We refer to said notes as Wilde Cards ;)

Card: Four of Cups

We must never forget that the power to get still and remain calm in the midst of life’s storms lives in us. Each of us.

Stillness is defined as the absence of movement or sound. For the purpose of this note, stillness (our ability to get still) is what allows us to act, hear, and see clearly. For varied reasons, life gets noisy or messy at times; If we’re not careful during these seasons and transitions, we may find ourselves focusing on what we lack versus what we have to be grateful for. The truth is often we have so many things going on and utilizing our time and energy that it must become a priority for us to get clear about what we truly need and what we don’t need. Stillness is one tool we all possess that helps us properly prioritize in our life. Our willingness to intentionally quiet the noise when we are apathetic, confused, weary, etc places us in a position to break free from these emotions. It is through stillness that we learn how to free up space in our life to attract more of what we do want by getting clear about what we do not want. As we master the art of getting still, it becomes easier to get still regardless of the situation or circumstance.

Heavily aligned with our ability to get still is our ability to remain calm. Calmness (or remaining calm) speaks to our power to not be disturbed and at peace. One of God’s deepest wishes is for us to experience peace, so when calmness is displayed and truly fills our spirit, it delights God. Furthermore, we display wisdom through our ability to remain calm. We honor an aspect of emotional intelligence and emotional control through our ability to remain calm. Being able to get still can often be one tool that we use in order to help us remain calm. I have often found that once I am able to see a situation clearly, I find peace and am able to move forward with a calm demeanor and spirit. As we practice and perfect remaining calm, we move towards a layer of emotional freedom.

Much love.
