We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.
Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.
Before you read this, I want you to think about all types of love. Love of self. Love of God. Love of family. Love of friends. Love of a partner or spouse. Love of neighbors. Universal love. Sometimes we tend to focus on one type, but there are many.
Card:
The Lovers
Affirmation:
Love is an action.
Reflection:
If we allow it, true love can take us to news places and open us up to new experiences. Vulnerability and evolution is required though.
The Lovers is symbolic of choosing love and love as actions. When we truly love, we should make choices that reflect our need to feel love and express love through meaningful and purposeful actions. Love is such a simple and complex concept. Most of its complexity comes from the fact that although it is a feeling of great affection and well-being, love is also a verb. Feeling love is one thing, but true love takes place when it is expressed and shown in such a way that it can be felt. When we love someone or something, we must make choices that are a reflection of the love we feel for them. Nevertheless, we are all imperfect people in someway or another. So it is possible to love someone yet make a choice or take an action that is not a reflection of love. However, this is the exception and not the rule. A mistake is totally different than constant and deliberate disrespect or complete disregard to the well-being of the person we proclaim to love. The problem is often more than anything that we don’t possess the right knowledge and tools to love truly. Generally speaking, our society, our upbringing, and our experiences shape much of who we are and therefore much of what we do. As a result, we all come to “the table” with our unique pasts and experiences which takes the simple concept of love as an action and complicates it because essentially, we have all been taught something different. There often comes a point-in-time where we have to make it a priority to learn how to express and show love in a manner that is a true reflection of all that love entails and is. We must constantly remember that love is what connects us to each other. Love is what connects us to God. Love is what allows us to see light in the dark. Love is what pushes us to evolve. We must love ourselves. We must love each other. We must learn how to give and show love authentically and freely.
Applications:
Show love through your actions. Talk with respect. Affirm. Extend grace. Practice empathy. Find the bright side. Speak encouragement and truth. Make choices that do not cause harm or pain.
