“i am nothing on my own but everything because of god.”

"Low thoughts will cross our mind but we can learn..."

We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.

Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.

Card:

Five of Pentacles

Affirmation:

I feed the things that bring me peace.

Reflection:

The saying “what we feed grows” is so true.

The Five of Pentacles can be symbolic of being problem-focused or worrying, particularly as it pertains to our family, finances, career, and health. We all have choices to make and as it pertains to worrying, one choice that we make over and over is what we choose to focus on. We can choose to let worry consume us or we can choose to find solutions. We can choose to let worry weigh heavy on us or we can choose to focus on the higher thoughts (i.e. clear and hopeful) instead of the lower thoughts (i.e. chaotic and pessimistic). This is not to say that we will escape ever having low thoughts because we will not. Low thoughts will cross our mind but we can learn and constantly practice not allowing our low thoughts to stay there and to redirect or reframe them to higher thoughts. For example, you may be in a situation and the low thought is “it is going to be impossible for me to fix this.” Redirecting or reframing that to a higher thought sounds like, “well, if I cannot fix this situation, I will do my best to make sure something like this never happens again.” I do not write this and mean that it is an easy thing to do - it is often a challenge for a lot of us. However, if we are willing to accept the challenge and put in the work required of us then it does get easier and a state of peace and resolution can fill us more than anything else.

Of course, there are things and situations that take place that we should have a level of concern about but those are far different from worry. Even when we cannot help but to worry at the bare minimum we must learn how to control the amount of time and energy we give to worrying. Our time and our energy are so valuable and the more we keep that in the front of our mind the more likely we are to not spend too much of either worrying. Ultimately, worrying leads to unnecessary suffering and though there may not be a one-size fits all cure to combat worrying, we do have to own that we can acquire tools and strategies to address and cope with worrying versus running away from or numbing it.

Feed your peace. Not your worries.

Application:

  • A good strategy to decrease or lessen worrying is to find something productive or restorative to do in place of worrying. For example, instead of laying in bed and worrying too much about a situation, you can choose to get up and work towards a goal of yours in some way (big or small); You can choose to treat yourself to something simple and special (or something extravagant if you got it like that). For certain, you do not have to worry without relief.
